See, it's good that we have TIVO now cause now we don't have to choose between one show or another, apparently, that's how a lot of people watch my show. 

You could be home right now watching me today or for you at home, it could be Friday or Saturday or it could be Sunday, or it could be June. I don't know. 

How did I do at the Oscars? Was it ok?

And, know, some people save up a whole week's worth of my show and then watch them over the weekend it's called binge-watching, otherwise known as being a shut-in.

How many people do that? How many people binge-watch shows? I do too!

It's the new way to watch TV because a lot of shows release the entire season at once.

And anybody binge-watching the House of Cards? The Netflix series "House of Cards"? Yeah, yeah. What about Orange Is the New Black? Arrested Development?Anybody?!

Who hasn't seen their family in 3 months?

I think binge-watching is good cause you can watch it at your own pace but it gets bad, really, because everyone watches at, you know, at different times, you know, so it might be your first episode of House of Cards, but I already know that everyone dies at the end. 

Nah, I'm kidding, not everyone.

Activity: The National Anthem and its meaning

"The Star-Spangled Banner" is the national anthem of the United States. The lyrics come from the "Defence of Fort M'Henry", a poem written on September 14, 1814, by the 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships of the Royal Navy in Baltimore Harbor during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. Francis S.Key was inspired by the large U.S. flag, with 15 stars and 15 stripes, known as the Star-Spangled Banner, flying triumphantly above the fort during the U.S. victory.

"The Star-Spangled Banner" was recognized for official use by the United States Navy in 1889, and by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson in 1916, and was made the national anthem by a congressional resolution on March 3, 1931 (46 Stat. 1508, codified at 36 U.S.C. § 301), which was signed by President Herbert Hoover.

Although the poem has four stanzas, only the first is commonly sung today.

Professor Nativo é Melhor que Brasileiro?

            Essa é uma das perguntas mais capciosas que sempre me fazem.

          Pedindo licença...Só no sapatinho...pra responder.

    Claro que todo aluno quando experimenta a oportunidade de interagir com um nativo  tem aquele brilho nos olhos; uma mistura de fascinação, medo, antecipação e alegria. E assim deve ser, afinal, é pra isso que tanto estudamos a língua estrangeira. Para conseguir comunicar,viajar, conhecer, estudar, trabalhar, namorar, divertir-se...enfim.

Um nativo nasceu ouvindo a língua, cresceu e viveu falando a língua, é natural, é óbvio... a língua é falada assim, sem esforço...puuufff... como uma brisa de verão.

 

Portanto, se você tiver a possibilidade de interagir e conversar com um nativo: NÃO PERCA TEMPO! SE JOGUE. Fale, repita, erre... DIVIRTA-SE! Use tudo que você tem se matado de estudar! A sensação de entender e ser entendido é maravilhosa. 

No entanto, estamos falando de um nativo e não necessariamente de um "professor". De um guia para seus estudos. De alguém que sabe do assunto. Alguém que estudou  para SER professor!  

Você acredita que todas as pessoas do seu país podem dar aula da sua língua nativa? Você acha que toda pessoa do seu país que nasceu falando, cresceu falando a língua e puuufff como uma brisa de verão sabe sobre metodologia, didática, ferramentas de educação e aprendizagem, sabe e compreende as dificuldades inerentes ao aluno na acquisição da língua? Dedica-se à pesquisa e aprimoramento profissional? 

E por que seria diferente com os nativos da Língua Inglesa? Aqui fica a dica!

Esse nativo é professor mesmo ou decidiu vir para seu país, aconchegou-se e pah! Vou dar umas aulinhas pra fazer uns reales?!

Cuidado! Cuidado com os "cursos" de nativos que male male preparam suas aulas, que usam uma apostilinha, ou textos, filmes/vídeos! Procure um PROFESSOR !!! Um  NATIVO que seja PROFESSOR. Aí eu tiro meu chapéu e dou a maior força. 

Eu, por exemplo, não trabalho com Português para Estrangeiros porque  EU não vivenciei ou aprendi minha língua mãe como uma estrangeira. Como compreender a dificuldade de uma pronúncia se para mim é como uma brisa de verão? Como compreender e estabelecer o caminho a percorrer se não conheço a via principal e muito menos as paralelas? Bravooo, para todos os meus pares que trabalham nessa área!

Mas Joy! Eu quero só bater papo, sabe?! Manutençãozinha. 

Wait a minute, hun! Quem disse que nossas aulas de Manutenção não são preparadas, programadas para darem aquele brilho especial ao seu inglês? Afinal, ninguém quer entrar e sair de aula mais aula e  nem ao menos se lembrar do que foi discutido e muito menos com aquela sensação de " não aprendi nada, de novo!". 

Já quase saindo da roda de samba....

Nativos, os amamos. Agora, amamos mais ainda os PROFESSORES! Remember that.
